Bridges

A dental bridge is an effective and natural-looking option that can replace a section of missing teeth. The most common bridge consists of an artificial tooth supported by its two neighboring teeth. The neighboring teeth are the anchor teeth, and are given crowns to attach the new tooth. The procedure typically requires two appointments.

Benefits of a Dental Bridge

• Correct your bite, which improves your health

• No need to remove a dental bridge like a partial every night

• Improve speech and speak more clearly

• Improve your chewing ability

• Fill gaps caused by missing teeth

• Give support to the surrounding teeth

How the Procedure Works

The first appointment: Dr. McCabe will numb the teeth and prepare the affected teeth by removing old fillings and cavities and creating the ideal shape and surface for the future bridge. Dr. McCabe will then take an impression of the teeth and send the impression to the dental laboratory to hand-make a custom bridge. While the lab is hand-making the bridge, a temporary bridge will be placed on the teeth.

The following appointment: The following appointment is generally two to four weeks after the first appointment. At this time, the temporary bridge is removed and the new custom bridge is placed on the teeth to verify a secure and proper fit. At this time Dr. Thomas McCabe will make any needed adjustments and will cement the bridge in place.
