Deep Cleaning / Scaling and Root planing

Approximately 70% of people between the ages of 35 to 44 are missing at least one tooth and 25% of people over the age of 74 are missing all of their teeth. Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth and many studies report a 95% success rate. Dental implants secure the new set of teeth to your jawbone with titanium posts, and can last a lifetime. Eat, smile, and chew with self-confidence by replacing your dentures or missing teeth with dental implants.

Gingivitis and various gum diseases can result in serious consequences when left untreated. They're primarily associated with significant deterioration of the gums and the bone supporting your teeth. The right treatment can be provided at the practice of Dr. McCabe, whose hygienists specialize in scaling and root planing procedures.

The main cause of gum disease is the buildup of tartar and plaque in your mouth. When this tartar and plaque remain untreated, bacteria can quickly grow. When enough bacteria build up, it can result in inflammation, irritation, and even bleeding of the gums.

This is where scaling and planing come in. These procedures are usually just referred to as “deep cleaning.” At each of your appointments, our hygienists will deep clean one section of your mouth.  This provides enough time to be thorough, clean all surfaces of your teeth, and serves to reduce your treatment time as well.

Through a combination of proper home care and our root scaling and planing procedure, you can greatly reduce your risk of gum disease and you can enjoy healthier roots, gums, and teeth.
